Dohnányi was one of Europe's most brilliant pianists. He contributed to rebuilding the musical life of Budapest with decades of concert programs that he commissioned, conducted and performed. He was one of the first famous pianists to perform chamber music extensively and, as a composer, Dohnányi produced an excellent body of chamber music, including his most famous works that are now part of the standard repertoire: the Piano Quintet No. 1 in C minor and the Serenade for String Trio Op. 10.
Béla Bartók's Piano Quintet is a young, little-known and little-performed work by the composer. Béla Bartók, then in his twenties, was experimenting with a musical language capable of expressing his national identity, however, in those years, his music still reflected the influence of other European composers.

      Repertoire:

Zoltan Kodaly (1882-1967)
