The music of M. Mussorgsky departs from the stylistics of Western European music. Together with N. Rimsky-Korsakov, A. Borodin, M. Balakirev and C. Cui, he formed what was known as "The Group of 5", composers who set out to develop national music. The concert will feature two pieces by two composers of the group of 5: a piece by Mussorgsky for soprano and orchestra and Rimsky-Korsakov's Sinfonietta on traditional themes.
